Job offer: English Teacher (part-time)

Project description:
This program is aimed at French-speaking teachers wishing to improve their production and oral comprehension skills in English. Offered online, it combines interactive courses, individualized follow-up and regular assessments. The curriculum, designed to meet the specific needs of teachers, includes differentiation according to language levels and integrates the realities of participants from newly arrived communities, particularly black communities. Each cohort lasts three months, with two sessions per week, and targets 20-30 participants per group.
Employment terms:
The position is offered on a part-time contract for a period of two years, covering the entire project. Precise start and end dates will be defined when the contract is signed. Work is mainly online, with the possibility of occasional face-to-face meetings with the project team.
Your duties:
- Design and deliver dynamic online courses via platforms such as Zoom.
- Collaborate in the design of the curriculum and pedagogical tools adapted to participants’ levels.
- Participate in the recruitment and placement of participants according to their language skills.
- Provide individualized follow-up and regular evaluations.
- Contribute to the integration of the realities and challenges encountered by newly arrived families, particularly black communities.
Profile required:
Training and Experience:
- Recognized training or qualification in teaching English as a second language.
- Extensive teaching experience in Ontario, with excellent command of e-learning tools.
- In-depth knowledge of the Ontario school system.
- Experience or knowledge of the francophone school context in Ontario is an asset.
Language requirements:
- Proficiency in English at a professional level, with English as the primary language of use.
- Intermediate level or higher in French.
Interpersonal skills:
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt to diverse environments and work effectively with multicultural teams.
Community involvement:
- Knowledge of the challenges faced by parents, teachers and newcomer families.
- Experience or involvement with Black communities in Ontario.
